Major Workforce Reduction at Microsoft's Gaming Arm

Microsoft is making some big changes in its video game teams. They're letting go of 1,900 people who work on games, and this news comes after Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard for a lot of money. The boss of Xbox, Phil Spencer, sent a message saying they'll help the people who are losing their jobs. He mentioned that they want to have a plan that helps the business grow while being efficient.

The person in charge at Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, is leaving too. He thanked everyone for their hard work and said it's not about their efforts but part of a bigger plan. He's leaving Blizzard after spending a long time there and being a part of Microsoft for over 20 years.

It's not just about Microsoft – many game companies are letting go of workers. This is happening even though there were many popular games last year. The video game industry is going through a time where a lot of people are losing their jobs, and it looks like this will continue in 2024.
